It all started in the ‘50s through the fine work of a gentleman by the name of Harry F. Klemfuss. Mr. Klemfuss promoted the value and importance of this career choice and he encouraged people to take serious interest in choosing secretarial and administrative careers. He also implemented the holiday that still honors secretaries and administrative assistants. The first National Secretaries Week was held in 1952 and was supported by the National Secretaries Association which is today called the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAPP).
Every year since then we celebrate and honor executive assistants, secretaries, administrative professionals, bookkeepers and personal assistants whose work and dedication make business run better. They're untiring nature and dedication to their jobs is indispensable and at the forefront of managing information and communication in today's American business. By US Labor Department statistics they account for well over 4.1 million jobs. The last Wednesday in April is set aside as Administrative Professionals day to tell them how much they are appreciated. This year celebrate Admininistrative Professionals Day and honor that special person in your business world. Let us suggest a few gift ideas. Tell them they are the Bees Knees with this whimsical cookie bouquet. Or, indulge their gourmet tastes with a special gift basket for your secretary or administrative assistant or a wine basket gift, another thoughtful way of saying thanks for all the hard work they do.
